  6. Do not let your insurance lapse.
  7. Talk to your agent about your coverage, and build a relationship!

Ways to protect yourself against identity theft:

  1. Never give out personal information over the phone.
  2. Beware of people calling to “confirm information.”
  3. Keep receipts, bank statements and credit-card numbers in a safe place and SHRED them when you dispose of them.
  4. Protect your Social Security Number; do not carry your card or write it on personal checks.
  5. Do not use obvious passwords or store them in public places.
  6. Review credit-card statements, bills and bank statements for accuracy and any unusual activity.
  7. Immediately report any discrepancies.
  8. Close any unused bank accounts.
  9. Immediately close all accounts and establish new ones if your wallet or purse is stolen.
  10. Be alert. Identity theft can happen to anyone at anytime!
