Important Notification: Regarding Off Road Vehicles
Are you aware that the Ohio law has changed?
The Law:
Effective July 1, 2009, ANY off-road vehicle that is ever used on an Ohio roadway must be registered with the Ohio BMV before operating.
The Implications:
ATVs and Off Road Vehicles are now subject to Ohio's new mandatory registration when "Operating on a Roadway". Operating on a roadway means the vehicle comes into contact with an Ohio road, this includes crossing the street with your vehicle. Once you register an off-road vehicle with the State of Ohio, you no longer have liability coverage under your Homeowners Policy, due to the registered vehicle exclusion.
Our Recommendation:
Please call the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles to see if you are subject to registration. If you register any additional vehicles, be sure to call your agent so that we may review your policies and give you guidance on how to best protect your interests.
